Every piece of equipment on the exam — receptacle, luminaire, panelboard, air conditioner — first has to satisfy Article 110. The working-space rules (110.26) are in lesson 06-04 and the fault-current rules (110.9/110.10/110.24) in lesson 02-05; this lesson is the rest of Parts I and II, all of which show up as one-line knowledge items. 1. Approval, listing and the instructions — 110.3
- 110.3(A) examination: suitability for the identified use (listing, labeling, marking), mechanical strength and durability, wire-bending and connection space, electrical insulation, heating effects, arcing effects, classification by type/size/voltage/current/specific use, (8) cybersecurity for network-connected life-safety equipment (new in 2023), and (9) other factors that contribute to practical safeguarding.
- 110.3(B) installation and use: listed, labeled or identified equipment shall be installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing, labeling or identification (the Informational Note says the instructions may be printed, a QR code or a web address). This is the section behind "manufacturer's instructions" answers.
- 110.3(C): product testing, evaluation and listing by recognized qualified laboratories.
